Guardiola Praying to Avoid Injuries at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has admitted his biggest fear is the prospect of witnessing more players on the treatment table. Manchester City have been ravaged by injuries over the last few months, but the club has been able to maintain the push for a quadruple going on. This has been largely possible due to a very large squad at the disposal of the former Bayern Munich manager. However, even that has been stretched in the last few weeks with a number of players unavailable due to injuries.

The final international break is upon Manchester City, who will have only a couple of senior players left in the squad. The major problem for Guardiola is the increased potential for injuries when stars go out for international duty. Since the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, and John Stones have been faced with a lot of injury problems this season, City have been unable to rotate the squad. It remains to be seen if the effects will be witnessed in the final moments of the season. City are facing the potential of up to 8 matches just in the month of April. This is one of the biggest challenges a team has to face when going for four different trophies.

CITY COULD LIFT THE PREMIER LEAGUE EARLY AGAIN

Premier League champions Manchester City are expected to retain the title at the end of this season. They played impressive football against Watford yesterday to win 2-1 and maintain their lead at the top of the table.

It seems there is no side capable to stop the Cityzens this term. Liverpool and Manchester United that resisted a bit last season seem to be going through a rough patch. Pep Guardiola is already riding on the opportunity to rewrite the history of England’s top flight.

Jerome Boateng admits to interesting Paris Saint-Germain talk

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has confirmed that he had made contact with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a summer move from the Allianz Arena. The Germany international had a World Cup to forget after the nation were ousted at the group stage but that did not have much impact on his reputation as a player.

Speaking to German outlet WELT, the former Hamburg man confirmed that there was indeed interest from the French champions but ultimately a deal could not materialise. He added that he now remains committed to the Bundesliga holders and would continue to play to the best of his abilities for the club, he said: “There were talks with Paris, that’s no secret. The project there was interesting, the talks with Thomas Tuchel were good. That does not mean that I’m not committed to Bayern anymore. I have big goals and will continue to do everything for the club. As I have always done.”

Manchester City have mountain to climb for Champions League

Manuel Pellegrini and his squad travelled to the Arena Khimki in order play their 3rd Champions League match against CSKA Moscow and surprisingly they had to settle with a 2-2 draw against the Russian team.

The Chilean manager of Manchester City was surprised to see his team conceding 2 goals in the 2nd half and he went on blaming the temperature in which the match was played on as one of the reasons on why his team did not perform at their usual best.

“We didn’t play well in the second half, maybe there was an excess of trust or that it was so cold that it was very difficult for the players to continue to have motivation. It seemed so easy in the first half. We played very well in the first half but maybe it was too cold in the second half.” Pellegrini said after the conclusion of the match.

Manchester City still has not managed to win a single match in their Champions League campaign and is sitting on 3rd place in Group E, behind Bayern Munich and As.Roma.

The Premier League club was in need of claiming a victory against CSVA Moscow if they wanted to keep their hopes of advancing past the group stages of the Champions League alive but only managed on grabbing 1 point.

There are still 3 more matches left to be played in the Champions League schedule of Manchester City which is just enough games for the English team to pick themselves up and start collecting points but it will be a huge mountain for Manuel Pellegrini and his players to climb if they want to progress into the next rounds of the European tournament.

The next match of Manchester City in the Champions League is scheduled to be played on November 5 in the home grounds of the English club at the Etihad Stadium as they face their 2nd leg match against CSKA Moscow and a victory is desperately needed for Manchester City to have any chance of progressing through these rounds of the Champions League.

Negredo Thanks City For Memories

Manchester City recently allowed striker Alvaro Negredo to leave the club and join Valencia on a season-long loan deal, which is likely to be converted into a permanent move at the end of the season. The move comes just 12 months after the striker came to the Etihad stadium. The forward was a £ 17 million signing from Sevilla, and in the first half of the season, he looked like being one of the best pieces of business made by City. The 29-year-old was part of the attacking line-up that scored goals for fun.

Negredo came up with 23 goals before January amidst talk of several records being broken, but the forward suffered a shoulder injury at a crucial time in the campaign that has effectively ended his City career. After suffering the injury, Negredo went on a run of 16 matches without a goal. Even though he finished the season with a respectable 23 goals from 48 matches in all competitions, the striker never looked like the same player in the second half of the season. City have been pruning the squad during the summer and there has been constant speculation that Negredo would leave the club after just 12 months.

The move finally came on transfer deadline day after Spanish club Valencia signed him on a season-long loan deal. Negredo thanked City for some wonderful memories in the last year.

“Today I say goodbye to a magnificent club. I want to thank the club for helping me become a better footballer and for making me and family feel at home during my time here. About a year ago Manchester City, a club that for always will remain in my heart, gave me the amazing opportunity to play in England. And for me winning the Premier League, the Capital One Cup and scoring 23 goals in a season is a dream come true,” said the striker.

Sunderland Match Preview

City’s top scorer with 26 goals Sergio Aguero in this time of year has failed to spot the last five games due to hamstring injury and might come back for Manchester city against Sunderland at Wembley on Sunday in the capital one cup final.

Forward Stevan Jovetic and defender Matija Nastasic are both ruled out of city. For the time being, the Sunderland midfielder Liam bridcutt will be absent as Sunderland will try hard to disturb the probability and defeat Manchester city.

Striker Wickham will not be concerned having joined Leeds on loan for the rest of the period on while the keeper Westwood is the sole man to miss out due to injury.

What city can still win will be decided by the next three games. First end Wembley and a possibility for Manuel Pelegrini to claim for his first cup in English football. Next to corroborate a come back to Wembley in the semi finals by playing against holders’ Wigan in the quarter final of the FA cup. And finally a trip to Barcelona and an effort to capsize a 2-0 shortfall from first leg. All of which may dim their dreams of lifting the premier league.

Only for the fourth time in the history the City’s are in the final of the contest, they had won two games out of their three visits most in 1976. If Sunderland win the trophy they can reserve their place in Europe who appeared only once in 1985 where they lost to Norwich city by 1-0. The last meeting between these two teams in the league match was in 1980. After a 1-1 draw at Maine Road Sunderland won the Roker Park replay by 1-0. According to John ley, prediction for the match is Sunderland-2 and Manchester city-1

NASRI RULED OUT

Manchester City’s Samir Nasri will be out injured for around 8 weeks as he sustained a left knee injury. The French midfielder used his Twitter page to talk about the condition of his injury and he also expressed all the support he has been receiving in these last few days. He picked up the injury when the Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa tackled him during the 2nd half of Manchester City’s 2-0 triumph that keep them at the top of the Premier League alongside Chelsea and Arsenal.

“Thank you everyone for your kind words and overwhelming support,” Nasri wrote, “I suppose its kind of good news that I will be out around 8 weeks.

Samir Nasri has been featured in 16 matches for Manchester City of the Premier League in this season and has been one of the most consistent players for the side that is fighting to hold the league title once more.

Jose Mourinho and Chelsea are one of the direct rivals that Manchester City has and the Portuguese rated the side of Manuel Pellegrini highly as he considers them to be the favorites on winning the title this season.

“City, in terms of power of the squad, are in another dimension. You can’t compare their situation with any other club. Some people disagree or some managers feel they shouldn’t say it, but I say what I feel: City are different’’.

“It’s not about having quality players, other clubs also have quality. But Man City are in the perfect moment. They don’t have old players or young players – the only young player is Matija Nastasic and he plays sometimes. After that, all of them are between 25 and 29 everyone in the best moment. The number of players they have at the same level is amazing. The physicality adapted to the Premier League is amazing’’. Mourinho said as he praised Manchester City.

SPANISH CLUBS WANT AGUERO

Sergio Aguero has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Argentine forward made his move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City with a transfer fee believed to be around £38 million.

Lionel Messi suggested his club, Barcelona to make a move for his Argentinean partner. Aguero played a big part in Manchester City’s title winning campaign last season by scoring the decisive goal that edged out the victory for his club on the final match against QPR.

So it makes sense that Barcelona and Lionel Messi desire Aguero into their squad but the real question is if Manchester City would allow such a key player of theirs to be sold?

Iker Casillas is believed to be on the radar of Manchester City after a number of disappointing matches for Joe Hart has left him in the sidelines and Costel Pantilimon being chosen ahead of him.

The English club is trying to find a more permanent solution to their recent goalkeeper problems and with Iker Casillas still having to fight for his place in Real Madrid a move to the Premier League might happen in January.

Even though Iker Casillas is considered to be one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation and winning a large number of awards and accolades not only for Real Madrid but also for Spain, Ancelotti still prefers to use Diego Lopez.

It was suspected that he was going to get more playing time under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti as he replaced Jose Mourinho but things have barely changed at all. With Manchester City in need of a solid goalkeeper and with Iker Casillas wanting to find playing time, this might just be the move that can solve both of their problems.
